I think I could save houseplants from ugly planter pots

In 2019, I started my journey as an independent plant parent and began to buy plants I thought would look good in my Brooklyn. So I got a giant rubber tree, a snack plant, and a cute little peace lily. The plants definitely added the green essence I was looking for to add to my apartment. However, there was something else that was missing. Planter pots! I wanted to make sure my plants matched my steez, so I began the shop for planters. All the planter pots I came across were ugly, had no drainage holes, and just plain dull. For me, the nursery pots were such an eyesore, so I settled with the typical terracotta and a gold pot I found at a small plant store in Brooklyn. I searched everywhere for a place that provided planter pots in various colors and functional pots. Where is the color? Why don't all planters have drainage holes? Somebody help me! From there, I felt like I needed to take things into my own hands because I wasn't the only plant parent that had these questions and this dilemma. That's when I came up with the idea of Palette Pots. At the time, I didn't have a name, but I had the idea of providing plant parents a place to shop for stylish, functional modern, and colorful pots! I started to curate the color options, designs and surveyed my friends to pick their top 15 colors. I found a team that can mass-produce the colors and designs and ordered samples from there. I was excited and nervous for several reasons which you've probably seen on most entrepreneurs journey top 10 list:

  1. Starting a business without any experience
  2. What if no one likes the pots?
  3. Failing of course
  4. Someone stealing my idea

In 2020, during the pandemic, I was furloughed from my job at Disney. I was so shocked and didn't see it coming. I took it as a sign to take the leap to finally launch the store after a year of sitting on the idea. Don't get me wrong, I still had those fears I mentioned above, but the pandemic made me realize tomorrow is not promised, and I don't want to live life asking myself, "What if..." So, in June 2020, I officially launched Palette Pots, and it was one of the best decisions I've made. If you've been following Palette Pots or see where it is now being a baby business, everyone else thinks it was a great decision.
